The Coppertone – Claim Yourself campaign
Help Free The Coppertone! Amanda Zelina, known musically as The Coppertone is a kick-ass blue/rock musician originally from King City (north of Toronto). I first heard about her on a bootleg I have of a Grace Potter & The Nocturnals show at Lee’s Palace in Toronto from a few years ago when she opened. I could go on at length about how awesome her music is but that is not the point of this post. Go check her out on Youtube. You need to know about her “Claim Yourself” campaign on indiegogo.com.
At 27 yrs old Amanda signed a record contract with a label that ultimately proved to be not in her best interest. Common tale right? Screw the labels, I say. Anyway, Amanda has launched a fan funded campaign to raise $20,000 to free her from her contractual obligations to her label and to buy the rights to her own material. Why should you care? I give major kuddos to Amanda for realizing you made a mistake, and rather than dwell on it she is doing something to change it. Her music is fantastic and in an era where good music is hard to come by we all should want to hear a new album.
So head over to here campaign page at indiegogo.com and pledge your support. There are some really great rewards for giving like CD’s and t-shirts, handwritten lyrics, a Skype music lesson and even a custom Airline guitar. Rewards aside, please go pledge your support and give great music a chance.
